The Thousand Words of my Picture

They say a picture is worth a thousand words right? You can't really know a person just by looking at them and giving them a thousand random adjectives. You first allow the person to introduce themselves to you and maybe a bond blossoms.

This snapshot is to give you a glimpse of who I am. It includes my favorites in many of the art forms. We all immerse ourselves in a variety of art forms. Music, literature, film, tv series are the ones in my snapshot however these are not the only art forms.

Who Am I?

I would say this question can be interpreted in many ways. There are so many things you could say. For this snapshot, I will be using my favorites. I would say I enjoy a wide variety of things. I cannot tie myself down to a particular genre or style. I like to broaden my horizons and like to dip my toes into different cultures and tastes. I like to include different perspectives because it allows me to understand why things are the way they are. Well to start off, my name is Joseline. I have nicknames that my family uses however I prefer to go by my actual name.

Music

Music is one of my go-to topics when it comes to introductions. I would say I spend the majority of my time listening to music. I enjoy 5 main genres of music however I cannot tell you which one is my absolute favorite. I enjoy listening to K-pop, Reggaeton, Bachata, Pop, and Alternative. I also cannot tell you who my favorite artist or band is because there are just so many! I have different playlists depending on my mood. I have chill beats, I have songs when I’m feeling down, I also have songs that I just want to jam to.

Literature

In terms of favorite books and what genre of books I like to read, I like to read Science Fiction novels and sometimes fantasy novels. I pretty much read the more popular books associated with these genres. I enjoy reading about dystopian societies as it is interesting how authors create a different world that is different from ours. A few notable favorites are the Divergent trilogy, The Hunger Games trilogy, The 5th Wave, and the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I chose this image because it shows how books bring readers to immerse themselves in the world presented to them. It puts readers in the shoes of the protagonist(s).

Movies

I tend to not watch as many movies as I do Tv shows. I do enjoy films that make you think. My most notable favorite movie franchise is Saw. I enjoy the darkness of it but at the same time, it has its own puzzle pieces for the audience to solve. The human mind is complex and seeing what the on-screen personas would do in certain situations compared to what I would do is fascinating. Just like books, I also enjoy Science Fiction and fantasy. When it comes to film adaptations from novels...my answer will always be the novel was better.

Tv Shows

I don’t have a general direction when it comes to Tv shows. I can watch regular shows that show on Netflix or cable channels, I watch cartoons and anime, I also watch K-dramas which are Korean drama shows. I tend to go for more dramatic shows that leave you on the edge of your seat or fantasy-related. I find shows like The Vampire Diaries and its spin-offs interesting. I’m currently watching the recent season of Lucifer on Netflix. I am then going to watch The Legend of Korra. I found Avatar: The Last Airbender to be a great kid’s show that I missed out on.

  1. Hi Joseline, I love how your blog is designed and how you used images for every topic you talked about in your post. I also enjoy tv shows that leave you on the edge of your seat, and if you’ve haven't seen Chilling Adventures of Sabrina id highly recommend it. I agree with your statement about not tying yourself down to a single style, because there is so much variety in art nowadays and it's great to explore all of the styles.

The post was very easy to read given how the titles and pictures were formatted and more enjoyable because of it. You seem to have a variety of tastes in both art form and genre, and I definitely respect that. It's hard to keep trying new things, but being able to constantly discover new genres and works that you enjoy makes it worth it.

  4. Hey Joseline!
I’m also a big fan of the fantasy and sci-fi genre! The Divergent Trilogy and The Hunger Games were some of my favorite books that I read in middle school. I had always wanted to read The 5th Wave too, but I was never able to get to it. I also completely agree with you about film adaptations of novels. The movies always seem to fully miss what made the books so amazing in the first place! Although, I do think that the adaptations of The Hunger Games were pretty good.
