Let's Go Back In Time

Image
Photo by Aaron Burden on Unsplash     The end of the semester is here and looking back, I have improved in a short amount of time. To answer the essential question of this course of what art is, I would say that art is something that brings meaning to our lives. In one way or another, it impacts us and it makes us have different opinions and thoughts about the medium that was shown in front of us. The purpose of art is to show us different interpretations of certain things and giving us another lens to see through. The art that is worth archiving is any medium that has a large impact on people. Reflecting back on the days that I researched previous eras and focused on one art piece, the art piece was something that impacted many during that time period. Some of these pieces were subtle in the way that they show how much it impacted society then, but when you think about it, the concepts shown on these pieces were part of bigger ideas.     Throughout this seme...

Progress Update 12/3/2020

Image by Pexels from Pixabay      Given that we are almost finished with the semester, I believe all of us are losing motivation to keep on going especially with finals around the corner. I am feeling the exact same way. I have noticed that this week was harder for me than all the previous weeks and I feel as if I barely got things done. I am currently working on the critical analysis of the 3rd poem. One of the published poets reached back and gave me permission to use their poem. I was meaning to finish the analysis and revise it last week but I gave myself a breather and I thought this week would go better. I am currently at a loss of motivation however my goal for this week is to finish it. I don't think adding that connection would be necessary only because I most likely will reach the word count with the rest of the critical analysis on poems 3 and 4. I have added on my website a page that links to a Google Sheets document where I will be updating it when I finish ...

Photo by Glenn Carstens-Peters on Unsplash     This week I felt that I wasn't productive however I was. I started analyzing poems already. I had two authors respond to my messages, they were the authors who wrote the unpublished poetry. I think at this point it would be better to look for more unpublished poetry rather than published. I have already embedded the Tumblr webpage onto the first two poem pages of my website. I have yet to publish the analysis for both poems. I have already finished editing and revising my analysis for the first poem and have yet to see what the author of the poem thinks of it. I will start writing my analysis on the second poem today and edit and revise it tomorrow. I shocked myself at seeing that I wrote so much for my analysis of the first poem. The analysis ended up being 687 words which I saw that if I keep up the word count the same way, I would only need to use 4 poems and probably write a connection to each other. I have so far writ...

Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay     This week I looked over my original timeline and saw how I left things vague. I decided to set up a list on my sticky notes app on my laptop and listed all the things I needed to complete. When I made the list I needed to edit and revise my Romanticism and Postmodernism critical analysis posts and I had looked at my current word count. Now that I have finished editing and revising them, my word count is 2,865 words. I now have the trouble of deciding how to divide the word count between the poems. I had distributed the word count between different options as seen below. Source; Author     I have decided to add another poem to my project to help distribute the words better. I had thought about adding a connection page to add each of the poems together to show that they all hold a common theme. This would mean that I would need to write around 523 words for each of these pieces. On Monday, I had searched for the poets whos...

Photo by Negative Space from StockSnap     This week I managed to edit and revise my Enlightenment critical analysis piece. I have since updated my website to have that version. I added my Enlightenment critical analysis piece to my revision document, which I mentioned in my first progress update post. I made sure to change some things around from the feedback I was given and ended up with a version I felt was better than the original.      I also changed how my main page looks and the theme for my website. I decided that purple was not a color that I felt should go with the poetry I will be covering on my website. The poetry I will be focusing on are the obstacles LGBTQ+ individuals face and I felt that grey better suited the topic. It is not a color that appeals to the eye but a color that does would not go with the poetry. I added my introduction to the project on the main page. I was tired of looking at a blank main page so I decided to add my introd...

Photo by Igor Miske on Unsplash     So far I have found two more poems that could be included in my final product. Instead of poems that were published by poets, I went to search online poems that were written by ordinary people and posted them on Tumblr. I know that Tumblr is a creative platform where many post art and regular posts. It would be interesting to mix in officially published poems and those posted online.      I added more to my Modernism Critical Analysis and added that version to my website. I have also changed a little bit of the layout for my critical analysis pages. I felt that they looked better the way I have them now. I also added new pages that will hold the poems I will be including in my final product. I intend to work more on my website during the weekend to make sure I have a clearer vision as to how I want my website to look like in the end.      I would say that I am currently feeling well as to how I am moving...

Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay     In terms of how I am doing with my project so far, I will say I am doing good. I so far have found 2 poems for which are candidates for my final chosen pieces. I was originally planning on finding poems and then find a common theme, I found that harder than expected. I managed to narrow down what I wanted to work with and I thought why not work with LGBTQ+ poems. Thinking about how there have been so many changes to become more inclusive during our current time, I found that it was fitting.     I have looked over the feedback I have received so far and made a document specifically to revise pieces that will be included in my final product. I organized it in a way that it has a table of contents that way I can easily find which piece is on what page. I included a page with bullet points for suggestions I have received in the feedback that way I don't need to repeatedly read so much. I have so far added more to my  Th...
