Romanticism was the era that came after the Enlightenment. This era focused on rejecting the ideas that were present during the Enlightenment. As said in this page, this era focused on "the individual, the subjective, the irrational, the imaginative, the personal, the spontaneous, the emotional, the visionary, and the transcendental" (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica).
